Copying classified documents in Poland – marking and registration rules
Published: · Maksymilian Kruszewski
Under Polish rules a copy of a classified document is a new classified document: it must be marked, registered and protected like the original.
Key rules
- copying includes extracts, printouts, scans and recordings,
- a document may carry an instruction prohibiting copying or translation, which must be respected,
- each page of a copy is marked „Kopia” (or „Wydruk”, „Wyciąg” etc.); the last page bears a certification of conformity signed by the head of the unit or an authorised person,
- the original records the number of copies, date and registration number of the copy,
- electronic copies are recorded in the document's metadata and may be processed only in an accredited ICT system.
