Security zones I, II and III under Polish classified information rules
Published: · Maksymilian Kruszewski
Polish law requires security zones for information classified CONFIDENTIAL or higher. The Council of Ministers Regulation of 29 May 2012 defines four types of zones.
Zone types
- zone I – entering the area gives direct access to classified information,
- zone II – entering the area does not give direct access (information is stored in containers),
- zone III – an area with defined boundaries where persons and vehicles can be controlled; CONFIDENTIAL may be processed but not stored there,
- special security zone – inside zone I or II, protected against eavesdropping and inspected by ABW or SKW at least once a year.
Storage
TOP SECRET: zone I or II, EN 14450 class S2 cabinet or strongroom plus guard or alarm system with video surveillance. SECRET: zone I or II, class S1 cabinet or strongroom. CONFIDENTIAL: stored in zone I or II in a metal cabinet or strongroom. Combinations must be changed at least once a year.
